Concrete Pads, Slabs, and Small Pours in St. Joseph

Just need somebody to pour you a pad?

That’s this page. Shed pads, pole barn and shop slabs, a parking strip beside the driveway, and the odd jobs in between. No job on this page is too small to get a callback, which around here is apparently a bold claim.

The whole process

Tell us the footprint. The quote nearly writes itself.

A pad prices off three things:

The footprint.

Length by width. “Roughly 24 by 30” is plenty; nobody needs it to the inch for a quote.

What’s there now.

Grass, gravel, or old concrete that has to come out.

Access.

Can a concrete truck get near it, or is it a wheelbarrow job?

Give those three and you get a real number and a real date back. That’s the whole process.

Shed pad, shop slab, or extra parking?

Call with the rough footprint and get a real number and a real date back.

The floor you’ll work on for decades

Pole barn and shop slabs

The slab in a pole barn or shop is the floor you’ll work on for decades, so the quote should read like it. Make sure the bid states, in writing: the thickness, the reinforcement, where the joints go, and how the slab meets the posts and the door openings. If a barn builder is involved, say so in the form, and the pour gets scheduled around them.

One catch, handled

Extra parking, poured right

A parking strip beside the driveway is a small pour with one catch: the street end of it may sit in city right-of-way, which in St. Joseph means a permit and a simple site plan. Handled as part of the job, same as our driveway work. Nobody should tell you to skip it.

Straight numbers

What does a pad cost in St. Joe?

Pads price by footprint more cleanly than any other concrete work, which is why the form asks for dimensions first. Real footprint in, real number out.

Got the dimensions? That's most of the quote.
